Finest Training Available:The National Joint Apprenticeship & Training Committee for the Electrical Construction Industry, sponsored by the National Electrical Contractors Association, and the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers has been training electricians for more that 60 years. Their joint training programs are registered in all 50 states and meet the U. S. Department of Labor's strict criteria for such programs. NECA and IBEW invest in excess of $100 million annually to train over 70 thousand apprentices and journeyman in our craft. Apprentice ObligationsThe term of electrical apprenticeship is a five (5) year training obligation, with a minimum of 8000 hours in On Job Training and a minimum of 1000 hours in Related Training. The JATC assigns apprentices to work (On Job Training) for qualified Electrical Contractors, under the supervision and tutelage of skilled journeymen. Apprentices normally work 8 hours a day, 40 hours a week, with occasional overtime. Apprentices also attend evening Related Training classes, two nights a week, three hours a night. Training is provided FREE OF CHARGE, with the exception of a minimal tuition and book fee. Earnings and AdvancementBeginning pay is presently $11.59 per hour, plus benefits, which is 45% of the journeyman rate. Throughout the 5 year training obligation, the apprentice will receive incremental pay increases as follows:
The current journeyman rate is $25.75 per hour, plus benefits. Based on present wages over the 5 year period, an apprentice can earn a minimum of $90,000.00, plus benefits, or as much as $105,500.00 or more, plus benefits.
